Named after a song of the same name by Scottish indie folk rock band Belle and Sebastian who they were on their way to see in concert back in Brooklyn before the grand opening of their café, Lauren and Jeff thought coffee would be the main focus of the business but quickly realized pastry was the star of the show. In October 2014, the couple opened their café, Fox In The Snow, off 4th Street in Italian Village inside a renovated old building that used to manufacture bricks. After four months or so of dating, the two decided to move to Columbus to open a store of their own as Culley realized there was a void in the market of the city closest to where she grew up for a high end coffee shop with quality rustic baked goods.

That career however never took off but, after accepting a management position at Blue Bottle Coffee, quickly realized he had a knack for leadership.Ĭulley eventually took over chef duties in the kitchen and the two struck up a relationship. It was at Blue Bottle Coffee where she would first meet Jeff Excell, the manager of the coffee shop.Ī native of California, Jeff Excell spent 13 years working as a barista in order to use all his energy on pursuit of a music and writing career.

Tired of the industry, Lauren transitioned into the baking field, joining Blue Bottle Coffee in Brooklyn to train as a baker.
